Levon Sarkisovich Oganezov
Levon Oganezov was born on December 25, 1940 in Moscow.

His father, Sarkis Artyomovich Oganezov was a cobbler. His mother, Maria Sergeyevna Oganezova (nee. Karumova) was a homemaker and mother to Levon and his older siblings. Out of all the kids, Levon was the only one who showed a proclivity for music studies.

He graduated from the Moscow Central Music School and went on to train at the Ippolitov-Ivanov college, then graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1967, after taking a hiatus to serve in the Soviet Army.
Oganezov’s first Conservatory teacher was the famed Vladimir Sofronitsky. At 18 years old, Levon — then the only student who was in possession of a black suit — got the opportunity to accompany a famous singer at a performance at Moscow’s venerable Colonial Hall. After this first taste of stage life, Oganezov graduated from the conservatory and became a member of the Moskontsert, the centralized Soviet concert touring agency for stage musicians.

Throughout his 60-year career, Oganezov accompanied and worked onstage with artists including Arkady Arkanov; Oleg Anofriev; Vladimir Vinokur; Maksim Galkin; Larisa Golubkina; Iosif Kobzon; Andrey Mironov; Valentina Tolkunova; Klavdiya Shulzhenko and many others.
